These are the best tyres for my discovery 4. They have good grip in the wet and dry, but I do only tend to get 30k out of a set. Hence I’m on my 6th set in 210k.

Warning - wear on these tyres is poor. If you want 80,000km from a tyre, this isn't the right tyre. 30-35000km maybe. Also - sometimes there can be a developing 'roar' - easy fixed; rotate front-back. BUT! - grip in wet clay is inexplicably good. Braking distance - you only have to avoid one accident to pay for the tyres, perhaps several times over. I'm guessing they improve braking distance by at least one metre (100kmh panic stop). Grip on gravel is good. Grip on dry bitumen is 'almost road tyre' good. Wet bitumen: this tale: Driving a friend on a wet day, a series of roundabouts. Suddenly he said, "Gods! - what tyres have you got on this thing" (Land Rover Freelander2)"! My SUV - would be sliding all over the road at this" (unspectacular) "speed!" He used a hard, 80,000km rubber. The Freelander was originally fitted with Geolandar ATs - my first replacement 100,000km ago I found these Pirellis and I've never bought anything else since.

The Pirelli Scorpion are the OEM tyre for the Discovery. Very good in all on-road conditions, not used off-road. Overall a good general tyre for the vehicle.

Very good, they iron out the potholes in our unit maintained roads. I pity low profile tyre users. Good wall depth is the answer to potholes and of course avoiding them.

Why This Tyre?

What's the Pros And Cons?

Pirelli Scorpion Zero UTQG 460 A A

Compare and Rate Your Tyre on its Treadwear, Traction, and Temperature

tyre-size

460 A A

•  460 Treadwear:
This grade represents the tyre's expected life/duration, ranging between 100 to 1000. Usually, the higher the treadwear rating, the longer the tyre life.

•  A Traction:
This grade represents the tyre's capability to stop on wet asphalt and pavement. Ratings are expressed in letter form, with AA being the highest and C as the lowest.

•  A Temperature:
This grade represents the tyre's heat resistance ability, with A as the highest and C as the lowest. Heat build-up causes the rubber to break down faster, which can cause blowouts. The higher the temperature rating, the longer the tyre life and the higher the speed rating.

The Pirelli Scorpion Zero is an Asymmetrical Tyre

tyre-size

Asymmetrical tread patterns combine different tread types to deliver maximum wet and dry road grip via its inner and middle tread, while outside, larger and rigid tread blocks dominate the design to improve cornering.

To avoid fitting mistakes, asymmetrical tyres are labelled "outside" and "inside only" so you know if they will face your vehicle or out.

Pirelli OEM Tyres

Pirelli's Scorpion Zero is the Original Equipment tyres for car models manufactured by Audi, Tesla, Mercedes Benz, and Porsche.

OEM or "original equipment manufacturer", means that the Pirelli worked with these companies to design a tyre model specifically for a brand new vehicle model.

Each OEM tyre is designed and repeatedly tested by car manufacturer engineers to ensure it meets the maximum performance, safety, and fuel efficiency parameters that will best benefit the vehicle.
